Remote SQL Server DBA (ongoing) 

Do you want to be working on the newest SQL Server versions, latest SQL features, most advanced architectures, HA/DR setups, AWS and Azure, automation, building database tools, and be part of a strong team? 

We’re a SQL Server consulting services company – Red9.com – that supports a number of SQL Servers for leading companies in the USA. 

We are searching for DBAs to help us expand. We have been growing and expect it to continue in 2023.

Job description 

– Design cutting-edge SQL Server solutions – on-prem and cloud 

– Proactively discover db issues 

– Find bottlenecks 

– Troubleshooting 

– Performance tuning 

 

Required skills 

– Verbal and written English required 

– SQL Server 

– TSQL 

– Attention to detail 

 

Preferred skills 

– Partitioning, AlwaysOn, Clustering, Indexing, Replication, extended events, baselining 

– Standard operating procedures 

– Knowledge of other programming languages is a plus 

Misc details

– Our team works during New York EST business hours. We need at least some overlap on the timezones in order to have regular meetings and give feedback.

If you want exposure to a broad spectrum of SQL deployments, opportunities to build automations and other DBA tools and spend more time doing actual SQL DBA work then Red9 is the place for you. We work hard, we solve complex problems, and we have fun moving fast while making SQL run as fast as possible for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Design innovative SQL Server solutions (on-prem and cloud)
  • Owner’s mindset – Proactively discover DB issues and find bottlenecks
  • Troubleshoot a diverse set of db issues from multiple clients
  • Performance tune slow performing SQL

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Verbal and written English required
  • 5+ year of work as a SQL Server DBA
  • 3-5+ years of experience running complex migrations and upgrades
  • TSQL expert
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow and build standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • PowerShell (3+ years of experience)
  • AlwaysOn, Clustering, Replication, extended events, baselining

Ideal Skills:

  • PowerBI
  • Knowledge of other programming languages is a plus
